About This Chapter
Two months from now, the surveying corps is supposed to conduct an expedition outside the walls of the city to bring back proof that a defeated titan has been defeated. If the expedition is a failure, the corps is to be disbanded. Captain Bernhart, however, has issued a warning that no one in his command is capable of carrying out the mission. The foreman wonders why Bernhard would issue such a warning, and wonders if she could just use her uncle's influence to get the task accomplished. She also wonders if the two of them were in a "life-and-death situation" during the battle. She wonders if they can trust her to carry out the task, and she wonders if it will be possible for her to train other foremans in the use of the new vertical maneuvering equipment. She worries that it will take three months to complete the task.
