About This Chapter
Inocencio's army is preparing to attack the wall, and the young men of the elite five-man team have been chosen to join them. As part of the training, the twenty-five of them will be assigned to a special training class, where they will be trained in the use of special equipment. The general training class will also receive special equipment, but they will not focus on fighting titans. Maria, the young widow of a soldier who was killed in the battle, is opposed to joining the army because she fears that her husband's death will cause her to lose her virginity. However, she is willing to join the survey corps because of her love for the young Alek. Alek's fixation on family is weak, but once he is free from his cage, his love for his fellow man is not hatred.
