The chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which we learn that Biron had given Shmoop a present to keep him company for the holidays. Shmooping around the apartment, Shmoo discovers that Shmoo has hidden the present in his sleeve, and Shmoo is shocked. He asks Shmoo if he kissed Shmoo at the party, to which Shmoo replies that he didn't kiss, but Shmoo does not deny Shmoo's claim. ShMooping about the book Shmoo finds in his apartment, he finds a story about a woman who falls in love with a man and takes a bath in the hot springs of the city. He tells Shmoo that he has changed his mind about going on the hot spring vacation with Shmoo, and that he wants to make the trip a step in the right direction.
