In this short scene, we catch up with Maria, who's in the middle of a dance party at which she's been invited to perform for King Klaus. She's so excited that she can't wait to show off her dancing moves to the King and his courtiers. Maria asks the King if he's ready to dance with her, and the King says that he'd love to, but he'll have to wait until the party's over before he can do so. Maria, however, isn't ready to part with the King just yet. She has a request for the King: she wants to perform a dance for him, but she can choose whether or not to accept it for free. The King asks Maria if she'd be willing to dance for free, and Maria says that she'll accept if the King gives her a reward for it. Maria tells the King that when she was little, she wanted to entertain the King with a dance that was popular in the city.
