In this chapter, we learn that the island of Nimonia was once home to a kingdom that came to be known as the Kingdom of Enchanted Isles. In this kingdom, women are born with magical powers and enter the ranks of the royal ladies, who serve the king as well as their male counterparts. Nimonia's queen, reina, has decided that she will become the queen of the kingdom. When reina asks the doctor if she can restore her magic, the doctor tells her that it will come from her own life force. The prince enters, and reina tells him that she is only there to speak with him. She tells the prince that he is welcome to enter, but he should not honor her by remembering her name.
