He's also telling her that he doesn't trust either of her suitors, since they don't seem to have the same feelings for each other as he does. He says that if they ever do get together again, it'll be because he has to marry her, not because he wants her to marry someone else. He then tells her to kiss him, which she does, and then he tells her she can kiss him any way she likes.
