The chapter opens with a splash of water. It's clear that the enemy knows where they're hiding, and they've been able to figure out a way to get there. They've also figured out that they can use the sand to hide the tunnels, so they can sneak out and attack the enemy in the middle of the night. The chapter ends with a soliloquy by the boss, in which he says that the fight isn't over yet, and that he's going to let them all go out on parole for the next day's battle.
