In this chapter, we learn that feng lin's sister is blind, and that he has been playing a game for her. We also learn that the game is called "canos," which means "light" in Chinese. In other words, canos is a symbol of light, and it is the one that sister used to represent herself in the game. The only problem, says the narrator, is that his mind is "too dark" for the light of canos.
