The scene opens with the narrator lamenting that he cannot bear the thought of a love affair with a straight man. He tells us that he is a saint and that he would be happy to be with any of the girls back home. The narrator then goes on to tell us that the door to the camp is only a few feet away from him, but he can leave without hesitating. After all, he says, he is no longer alone. The door is only half a foot away, but the narrator can "leave without hesitating" . He says that sooner or later, he'll die thanks to his "soft heart" , but that he can "slip away" at any time. He also says that if he were a man, he would not look back since he's made up his mind to leave. He creaks a little bit, and the door finally opens. It's the magic bag that brother gave him. The bag fits in the door, but how can he take it away? He says they'll be "good brothers" in the future, and that they will be able to go back whenever they want. He's so happy that he has to hurry back to camp, because he wants to see Lanlan. He wants to know where he can find the campsite, so he walks along the lake.
