In this chapter, we learn that Gyan's servant, Mr. Lanlan, is planning to go back to the land of the rolands, where he and his wife have been living for the past three years. He tells us that he's already sold most of the things he brought with him, and that it's hard for him to stay in the tribe, since he can't eat vegetarian meals. He also says that he doesn't want to think about the temple any longer, because now that he is himself, he has no need to think of it anymore. He wants to return to the empire, and he asks the two of them to go with him.
