In this chapter, we learn that Gyan's team is on an important errand for the Duke's company. Gyan is eager to make some money for himself and his family. He tells his brother that he has heard that the company is famous for its tulip caravan, and that he hopes Gyan will take advantage of this opportunity to make a lot of money. He also tells Gyan that he is sure Gyan can impress him with his diamond-star-fried chicken sticks, which Gyan has never seen before. He explains that although jewels are very precious, they do not last very long. He then launches into a long speech about how candy is like a gem, which is transparent and free from impurities. He says that the taste of candy is as beautiful as that of the starry sky, and he must try it. He adds that he thought it would last for half a day, but then blueberries, apples, bananas, multiple tastes hit his taste buds. He wonders why Gyan seems to be enjoying the taste, and Gyan tells him that it has been half of a day. He asks Gyan if he is alright, but Gyan replies that it is been half an hour, and the boss seems to enjoy the taste. He tries to sell Gyan some copper plates, but he is told that the price is too high. He claims that he knows the value of the copper plates better than he does, and says that he can give Gyan as much as he wants in the future. He warns Gyan not to listen to him, as he is the only one in the world who knows the market, and there is no one else who will compete with him for business.
