In this chapter, we learn that the day after he returned from the Crusades, King Henry was seen with a young elf girl. The girl was disappointed with him, and he promised to accompany her back to the realm of the rolands. The young woman, however, has already disappointed King Henry, and it is too hard for him to return to the kingdom now. He tells the young woman that he loves another woman, and she responds by saying that he is not stupid. He says that he has a way to deal with the problem, but he is a man, and there is no way he can cut it off. He laughs at the girl's laughter, and says that his heart is what is going on.
