In this chapter, we learn that the main objective of Ulysses's forces is to destroy the "king kong puppets" . Ulysses is determined to do his utmost to save the puppet masters' lives. He tells them that if they continue to carry anything with them, he will kill them. Ulysses tells the kid not to try to do things in the "hard way" because that will only make things worse. He says that Ulysses is someone he saved, therefore he must do everything in his power to save him. Ulysses asks the kid if he wants to die with Ulysses, and the kid says that he does not want to. Ulysses says that the best way to kill Ulysses is to flee. The kid tells him that he was planning on doing the same thing earlier, but now that he knows, he realizes that Ulysses was the one who used the same tactic earlier. Ulysses realizes that he is changing too fast. The mythical forces have withdrawn, and Ulysses' army is under his control.
