The narrator advises him to go to a nearby restaurant and wait for ten other people to come and offer him a job. The restaurant owner tells the young boy that he is wasting his precious time and money by taking him to the culinary arts school. He then tells the man that the restaurant is the location of the exam for the academy's department of culinary arts and that this is where the boy should go to take the exam. The man says that he has brought the boy to the restaurant because he wants to teach him culinary arts, but the boy says that the man said that he could take the test at the school, but that he would have to leave if he did not pass.
