In this short scene, we are introduced to the protagonist, who is overjoyed to be reunited with his childhood friend, and to be able to profess his love for him. We are also introduced to a number of other characters, including the narrator's father, and we are told that this is the first time that the protagonist has spoken in such a short scene.
