In this chapter, we learn that Hiroyuki's marriage certificate has been returned and that his engagement has been broken off. We learn that the reason for the break-off was Hiroyuki himself, and that he has not spoken to his son-in-law since then. Hiroyuki tells his wife that he is now married, but he is not sure how to react to the news. He tells her that he does not want her to look at him in the same way as he does, as he is afraid of his feelings for her. He asks her to take a personal background check on him, but she refuses to do so, saying that it is too late. She tells him that she will give him a ride home.
