Three months after the disappearance of tuoyi, the narrator returns to school to tell his classmates that he has something to tell them. He has made an "exuberant wish" and wishes that he would be "happy forever." He has never seen his best friend again, and his mother has been crying ever since. Finally, he receives an offer to be transferred to Paris, and he accepts. He tells his classmates about his rejections of having another child, and how his parents divorced after he found out that his father was having an affair with his mother. His younger brother is adorable, and the narrator does not hate him, but he does not like his father either.
