About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's just moved to a new school, which means that he has no idea what's going on with Mingyuan. He's heard all kinds of rumors about her, including that she's been cheating on her boyfriends, and that her mother is a friend of the school's principal. The narrator doesn't know Mingyuan very well, but he does know that he can't stand Mingyuan's constant flirting. Mingyuan, he tells us, is a "fool around" , and he should just ignore her. He also tells the narrator that Mingyuan and his friends have been trying to bully him, and Mingyuan should just get out of the way. He tells Mingyuan that after he left, his parents got divorced, and since then, he hasn't seen his mom again. He says he'll never see his mother again, because Mingyuan is a good student, and she'll probably never come back to school anyway. He adds that he still remembers the atmosphere at the party, because even though Mingyuan seems obsessed with her work, she still drags the other students to sing together. It's already four years since Mingyuan left, and his dad remarried and had a son, but that's all he does now. He asks Mingyuan not to play the "calling number" anymore, because the first person to go
