The scene opens with a flashback to a time when the narrator was a student at Barnardo College, where he was bullied by some of the other students because of his last name. He tells the story of how he was kicked out of the school for being too nice, and how he is now fighting for the right to be called a "student" at the college. The flashback is interrupted by the introduction of the "student council," a group of students who will assist the students in their application for admission to a university.
