Land of the Lustrous

In this chapter, we learn that the machine lives on a diamond-like substance, and that it's impossible to destroy it physically. We also learn that they've tried to get the machine to cooperate with them, but that doesn't seem to work. They've even tried to convince the gems they took from him to work with them. But, as far as we know, they haven't been able to get him to do anything about it. So now they're in the middle of trying to figure out how to make the machine work again.
