This is a locked chapterCHAPTER 39: Self-Admonition
About This Chapter
In this chapter, the Governess tells Chiron that he is the one she fears most. She tells him that she is afraid that he will be taken away by the ghosts. She asks him if he hears a strange sound, and he tells her that he does not. The Governess says that he hears the sound of a rock, and she asks him whether he is touching the rock. He says that it is the ghost, and the point is that he wants anyone to get because of him. He explains that he cannot undo what he has done, because the alloy of phos has been broken in two. He tells Chiron to hurry, because he has pulled five all-nighters. He asks Chiron if he can sleep with him, and Chiron replies that he can, but he is not sure he can fix him every time. He adds that Chiron has lost his arms and legs, and that if he loses his sanity, he will also lose his sanity. Chiron agrees that he has lost both his legs and his arms, but Chiron says he is tired of praying.
