Land of the Lustrous

Now that winter's over, the crew reports that the redds are back on the moon. They've been using the old, old-style cannons, but they've also been using a new type of cannon, one that's lighter and more maneuverable. The new cannon is lighter, but it's also heavier, so it doesn't move as well as the old cannon did. Now that he's using the new cannon, Philpot asks if the new one looks anything like the old one, and Philpot says it does. Philpot tells him to go ahead and swap out the old ones, but Philpot points out that the new ones are using a different kind of cannon - one that has a "mesh pattern" all over the body, which makes it easier for the enemy to shoot at them. He tells Philpot that he needs to get some rest, because the weight of his new cannon keeps him from moving as he used to. He says he wishes he hadn't gotten into a fight with the enemy, because he'd have been able to report back to the Antarc. The sun is out, so Philpot is happy to see it. He hopes that the next one will bring him back with it, too. He's bummed that he hasn't reached out to the enemy yet, but he says the next time, it'll go better than the first one. He wishes he had reached out his hand, because it would have made him feel more comfortable. He also says that the sun was sunny today, so he hopes the next enemy will bring it with it. The redd says he wants to be ready for the arrival of the enemy. He wants to sleep in his room so he won't have to close his eyes, and he wants Philpot to fix his kimono so he can wear it in the future, since the enemy will be furious
