Land of the Lustrous

This chapter opens with the protagonist's cry for help. He's lost his sword, and he can't figure out how to use it to fight the alien invaders. He tries to explain that he's not strong enough to fight a lunarian, and that the only way he can do so is to swing his sword. The protagonist says that sensei has told him that he cannot even look at the lunarian because his hair changes color, and the red color of the alien's skin indicates that it's been sent to the moon by the signal from the sun. This is a big deal, because it means that the protagonist has lost his ability to fight. He says that he doesn't even know how to cut the alien in half, because he'll have to use his sword to do so. He also says that even if he could, he wouldn't be able to kill the alien because he has no sword to use. He tells the protagonist that the alien has run away, and they don't seem to know what to do about it. They've been sending signals all along, and now that they've seen the signal, they're going to run away too. They didn't run away because they were sent by the sun, they ran away because the signal
