This chapter opens with a description of the dining room, which is the place where the monster ate the baby. The narrator tells the reader that he is not a complete amateur, but that he has to ask the help of a friend of his, who is also a detective. He tells the audience that he still does not fully understand the monster's story, and that they control the body and eat people. He says that even though he has been studying hard, his facial is a little overdone, and he thinks it gives him "personality." The narrator asks the friend if he is angry, and the friend says he is. He then tells the story of how the monster followed him, and how he did not tell the man that he was a monster. He also says that the man did not know that the woman was pregnant, and did not think that she was cheating on him. The man says that he does not want to be involved with the monster, because he is afraid that the monster will follow him and eat him, especially his hand-held radar, which the narrator has been using to track the movement of the monster.
