The next morning, Hayashi arrives at the school in order to find out what has happened to his wife. He asks the headmaster if Hayashi is in the school, and the headmaster tells him that he is not. The headmaster then tells Hayashi that the police have arrived at the scene of the crime. The police officer explains that on the night of the 18th, his wife stayed in the same hotel as Hayashi, and that he went out to find her. When he returned, he found her walking alone. He assumed that she and Hayashi had had a fight, and so he called the police. Hayashi thanks the police officer for finding his wife, and says that he will be in a hospital for another seven days. He tells the headmaster that he needs Hayashi to find the monster and fight it.
