In this chapter, we get a brief glimpse of the new student, Shimada. He's got a lot of good reflexes, but he's also a little scared of him. Shimada tells us that he doesn't want to fight, since parasites live on the same level as humans. He also says that he'd rather be eating normal food than fight parasites. He thinks that if parasites live without killing people, then there's no reason for them to kill humans, since they're parasites, too. He wonders how many people like Shimada there are, and he wonders if they'll be able to figure out a way to get out of this. He wants to get rid of the mask, but can't, because he'll have to forget about it for a long time. He asks if she's scary, and she says that she is, but that he scowled at her because she was the last person he wanted to frighten. He says he knows that he has psychic powers, and that he can still sense him, even though he can only sense him from a distance. He tells us he was sure that she was izumi, but now that he thinks about it, he realizes that he was mistaken. He wishes he could take her to the station and show her around.
