In this short scene, the protagonist introduces himself as "Libra" and explains that he is a "proud citizen" of the city of zalem. He tells the protagonist that he has come to meet the other operators of the Underground Man's laboratory. The Underground Man explains that they have a shoestring budget and that they plan to expand their personnel when they have more sophisticated equipment. The protagonist is impressed by the power of the underground man's machine and asks to meet him again. He asks the protagonist not to tease him about the button, as he sees "finger grime" on it. He explains that the underground Man has a number of sensors that track the location of mines and traps, but he cannot use their powers without being in touch with the analysis back in the city. He suspects that they are out to kill him so that he might kill the protagonist. He also warns the protagonist to be careful with the Underground Machine's weapons and supplies.
