In this chapter, we learn that the protagonist, Alita, wants to become a "hunter warrior," meaning a person who hunts and kills for pleasure. In order to do this, she's going to have to "brand" her brain with cyborgs, which are devices that attach themselves to the brain to make it appear as though they're human beings. Alita doesn't understand why the protagonist would want to become such a dangerous person, but the protagonist explains that he's doing it for his own sake. He's not hunting for the money, he just wants to be a good sport.
