The next morning, a fight breaks out in the paper. Alita tries to steal Yugo's prize, but zapan attacks her. The fight ends with the head of Yugo being killed, and the body buried instead of claimed for its worth of chips. The doctor tells us that if he had been smarter, Yugo would not have done such a thing, because he was once a member of the zalemites, a group of people who believe that they can escape from the confines of the body by trickery. He explains that his body has popped out of its power supply, and that he needs to go to the laboratory to find out what happened. He tells the doctor that he and two other men tried to enter the laboratory, but they were kicked out by the doctor and his assistant. He then tells Yugo that he can send him to zalem if he wants, but only for a single sample of his body each month. Yugo is furious, but the doctor tells him that he tricked him into thinking that he could get into zalem by trickery, and he should get out of the laboratory.
