In this chapter, the narrator and the other members of the gang examine the appearance of the famous mathematician, the "crow tengu" . The narrator compares the appearance to that ofkanemotoyokose, the murdered woman, and the "ghost of capital" , the ghost of capital who will die for his crimes. The gang tries to figure out what's going on, but they can't figure out how to contact him. They go to the mansion, where they find that the bank has hired an assassin to kill the woman. They also find that two bank employees have been killed inside the mansion.
