In this chapter, we learn that Hirohito's brain has been badly injured, and that he has been secretly gathering information for the military. He tells us that the military was interested in the report because it contained information about "emergency diplomatic and military strategies" . He also says that the secretary of state was attacked because she was trying to find out something important about the case. He says that he would like to take over the case because he wants to know why the military would be interested in such a sensitive matter.
