This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between the fifth witch and the sixth witch. The fifth witch explains that she was sent by the academy to help the fifth sister escape. The sixth witch tells her that she should follow her back to the academy and "be sucked dry" . This is a good idea, she says, because the special police in the academy will not be able to help her escape. She tells the sixth sister to "create an opportunity" for her to escape, and to "land crumbling spell" , which is a kind of spell that makes the soil brittle. She says that she will use this spell to attract the witches over to her side.
