In this chapter, we learn that the protagonist's name is "feng wuxia" , and that he is the son of the former prime minister of the People's Republic of China, "supreme prime minister" . The protagonist explains that he has been living in the underground of the city for the past 30 years, and he has never been able to enjoy the fruits of his labor because of his mother's poverty and lack of education. He feels that he cannot love her because she brings him nothing, but harm. He explains that there are three kinds of people who seek his life: those who are harmless, those who want his life because they are experts in the field of assassination, and those who wish to kill him because he is a member of the "shadowless sect," an assassination organization. He tells us that his sister, Su Ling, swears that she will only love her husband, "guanxue," for the rest of her life. She says that if she dies protecting his wife, her blood will protect her, and if she intends to hurt her husband's wife, she will be damned for eternity. Su Ling says that she had her reservations about the oath, but she will not defy it.
