In this chapter, we learn that Chinglu is in the middle of a sacrifice ceremony, and that he is afraid to go out because of the curfew at the goddess temple. Chinglu begs his master to protect him, but Chinglu refuses, saying that all the assassins have been wiped out of the temple. He also tells Chinglu to take care of his master, because Chinglu has taken him by surprise the last time he saw him. When Chinglu points out that the arrow that hit Chinglu went in the wrong direction, Chinglu deflects it with his psychic powers.
