In this chapter, the ugly woman is overcome with grief over the death of her beloved. She cannot believe that she is being punished for her wavering heart. She realizes that she has been poisoned by her master, and that he must have an antidote for the poison. She believes that if he uses the poison to kill himself, he will lose all of his love for her. He will no longer love her from now on. She begs him not to leave her, for she wants to spend the rest of her life with him.
