Back at the palace, Madame Bovary asks Madame Guinevere if she's feeling well. She's fine, she says, but she'd like to know what's wrong with her. Madame Guignol chimes in, saying that it's a shame that Madame Guiforte hasn't been able to help her since she was kidnapped. She also says that Madame Moignol was involved in the kidnapping because she wanted to protect her. The two of them sit down to have a little chat. Madame Guifarte says that she doesn't want to hurt her feelings, so she'll be nice to her ex-lover, who's back in town.
