About This Chapter
The eunuch tells the emperor that his daughters are pawns and that they will die if they do not follow the emperor's orders. He also tells him that the emperor has fainted and that the royal doctor has been called. The emperor says that he must not let his daughters live and that he will not let anyone else die. He says that a man disguised as a monk followed him into the palace. He tells the monk that everyone knows who is behind the monk's accusations. He adds that the monk threw evidence that before her death, princess Yuping had met with the concubine of the late emperor. The monk says that the temple that Princess Yuping bought the King of Hell sculpture from was the temple behind that temple. The path leading to the temple where the monk was staying was behind the temple, and the monk says he has asked a Buddhist master to look at the nails on the body of the dead princess. He claims that he had feelings for the monk before he met her. He asks the emperor if he is aware of his wrongdoings. The empress says that she is aware and asks him to help treat the emperor.
