In the midst of a rainstorm, Cai Ming asks his brother why he is sitting outside on the rainy day. Cai Ming tells him that he is his mother's favorite son and that he does not fear doing anything Cai Ming wants. He says that three years ago, when Cai Ming returned from the war, he took away Cai Ming's love for him. He tells Cai Ming that he should not be jealous of him because he is a smart kid and Cai Ming should know what he is trying to say. He asks Cai Ming if he can give him a hug. He does not want to say anything because he wants to treat Cai Ming to something delicious. When Cai Ming says he is not feeling well, he says that he often ruminates about bad memories and that his mother scolds him for not asking him why his relationship with his family is so strained. He then asks why Cai Ming does not question him about his origins. He explains that when he came to return his umbrella, he found Cai Ming in the classroom and that Cai Ming can come to see him again.
