The scene opens with a warning from sheng to tell him what he is thinking. He tells nian that he really loves him. nian tells sheng that he is aware of his hatred for him and that if he were nian, he would not choose to overlook yanshengs bad behavior. He says that he wants nian to know that he was in love with him for a long time and that even if he hated him, he still wanted to see nian because of this. He adds that life is a continuous display of fireworks, and he and sheng are only traveling though one right now.
