In this chapter, we learn that Cai Ming has been invited to stay with Gu Xiaoping, the minister of the Ming family. The minister tells Cai Ming that he has planted plum trees for Cai Ming in the Ming countryside. Cai Ming tells the minister that he does not think Cai Ming can compete with him because he has killed himself before. The two men argue about whether or not Cai Ming should be allowed to go to the wedding, and Cai Ming says that he would never allow Cai Ming to leave even a half step away from him. He also says that, if he were Cai Ming, he would tell Cai Ming time and time again that he cares for him, so does Cai Ming. Cai Min chimes in that he did not want to blame Cai Ming for the suicide, and that Cai Min wrote a note saying that he was sorry, but that he could not forgive Cai Ming because Cai Ming would not forgive him. The scene ends with Cai Ming telling Cai Ming not to worry about the wedding because he knows that the Ming lord will be there soon.
