About This Chapter
The scene opens with the prime minister of the People's Republic of China, or PRC, in the middle of a public meeting. The prime minister is planning to go to Hong Kong to attend an impeachment hearing for his son-in-law, the Politburo member, who has been accused of having fought with his sons against a prostitute. He is accompanied by a young man named daolin, who is dressed in a suit of clothes that no one will recognize him in. He explains that he has prepared two sets of clothes, one for the emperor and one for his subordinate, because the emperor cannot go to the impeachment hearing. He tells daolin that the rumor has it that the emperor has fallen in love with the prostitute, and that the family of the prostitute's family has been involved in the affair. He also explains that the three families have all come together to impeach the emperor because of his love for the prostitute. The young man asks daolin to fasten his belt so that he can go with him to the house of the hongyue family, where he is supposed to meet the prostitute . He then asks the young man if he is looking for another girl, and he tells him that the wine in the house is intoxicating and that he should not drink too much, as he is always a "light drinker." He then tells him not to come back once he leaves the house, as this is what he is thinking, and asks him to take him with him so that they can eat dumplings on the fifth day, the traditional break-the-rules day of the Chinese new year.
