The play opens with the Emperor and his Minister going their separate ways. The Emperor tells his Minister that he has written the play to show that he will no longer be the Prime Minister. The Minister replies that the Emperor is a good Prime Minister and that he deserves to be the pillar of the Country. He tells the Emperor that if he were to become a treacherous courtier, his health would not be as good as it is now. He asks the Minister to come to the Palace to accompany him. He promises that no gossip will be spread about him. When the Minister enters the Palace, no one will know that he is the Minister. He says that the Country is in trouble, but the Emperor abolishes the PM just for his selfish motives. He has gone through so much hardship to become the Emperor. He is dedicated to assist the Minister and focus on his duty as the PM.
