In this chapter, the monster explains that he is the "real" monster, not the "shadow" that he was before they met. He tells the monster that he can still touch him, even though he has become a shadow. The monster also tells him that the villagers will not accept him, since they do not trust him. He asks the monster to make a decision between him and the villagers.
