In this chapter, Caius tells his servant that he must hold the egg in order to incubate it. He tells Caius that the population of the people has been declining for decades, and that one day, they will go extinct. Caius wonders if the priest is the gift of the goddess of water. When Caius realizes that his leg is bleeding, he flees the room.
