The narrator apologizes to the young master for not keeping him in the water longer. He realizes that the sex life of the fish is so important that he has to stay in it all the time to keep it from getting out of control. The young master realizes that he must catch the fish to cure him of the disease, or else he will not be able to enjoy the rest of his life.
