In this chapter, the young man is introduced to a new character, a thirty-year-old man who is a member of an art club. The young man asks the young woman if she still wants to be with him, and the girl replies that she does, but that she doesn't like the older man because he's much older than she is. The older man tells her that she's doing a good job with her sketch, and that he still wants her to be his friend. The younger man then asks the girl if she'd like to become a professional artist. The girl says that she would like to be a voice actress, but she can't do that because she is four years older than the man. The artist tells the girl that he is not good enough to be an artist, and he reminds her of the promise he made to her when he was a young man to marry her if she became an actress and they realized their dream of being married. He compares the younger woman's sketch to a comic he used to read, and says that the girl's body is shorter and less girly, but he still likes her.
