This chapter opens with a soliloquy by Lu Qi, in which she laments the fact that Cai Ming has turned her down. Cai Ming, she says, is "too pathetic" to be able to do such a thing. He has become even more "isolated" since then, and he has not been able to "get rid of hatred" for her. She tells him that she is now married and has had a child, and that she has started a business. She also tells him to take care of her, as she will be the "number one player" in defeating Cai Ming. The banquet is ready, and Cai Ming is drunk. He tells Lu Qi that he has "numerous super juicy news" to release. He says that one of the "most important criteria" is "audience recognition" and "morally compromised" projects. He invites Lu Qi to come and see him at 8pm. He asks her to help him find the right "investors" to invest in Cai Ming's project. She says that she does not expect anyone to help her, but that she will help Cai Ming if he asks. She asks him if he thinks that he stood up for Lu Qi in the canteen. He replies that he thought she was "big names" since she dared to make comments about him. She then asks him who he thinks is helping Cai Ming
