In this chapter, Cai Ling asks Ren Gao whether it's okay to lock up Haim and Bing Min together. He says that he can't, because he's not allowed to do that with Haim. Cai Ling wants to go to meet her family, but Ren says that they're not going to be able to go because he won't let Haim come out yet. He's worried about what he'll say when they get there. He tells Ren to take it easy on himself, because there's a lot of feeling missing in him. He asks if Ren has been overly obsessed with "bai" and "couple fan fiction" . Ren says, "I put my tmb er . . for the furb to my bag , oo . dig ho again / I will stand side by side with you ." He tells Cai Ling that he flew to his concert in Japan many years ago, and that he wrote a letter to Haim, telling him that he'd be waiting for him in his bag. He also tells Ren that he will sing a song to him, and he promises to stand by him. The song is called "Pab-raper Pbane is swinging" , and the narrator tells us that the song was written by a young man who is now a member of Haim's band. The narrator asks why Haim doesn't hold a concert, since it'll keep the company's fans happy and make the company some money. He points out that, as a woman, she's always avoided using the family's money to help her artists, but that's what she did when she wanted to help the band. She's jealous of Ren, who is jealous of her.
