In this short scene, a naive young woman named Miss Goldie tries to convince her employer, the governor, that she is innocent of the crime of stealing a small amount of peanut oil eight years ago. The governor, however, is not fooled, and he orders the woman to be thrown in jail. The woman, who has been working as a maid for the governor for eight years, tells the governor that she has never seen a government official so pathetic.
