Back at the shop, the boss is finally back. He's so happy to see that the porridge recipe is back on the menu, that he's going to take it to the backyard to make sure it's not stolen. The waiter is also back, and the boss can't believe that the guy is trying to steal the recipe. The boss tells the girl to take the porridge to the back yard so that she can rest so that he can check out the situation. The girl recognizes the waiter as little goldie, and she tells the boss that she'll take care of the whole thing. She also tells him that she ate at his shop once, and that he looks like his boss is stingy with money. She says that she wouldn't even dare eat porridge like that if her boss didn't want her to ask her to do errands for her, because the boss was known to be stingy. The old woman wants her to bring a portion of the porridge back to the house, but the boss tells her to keep it down, since the old woman is deducting three days worth of her rations. But the boss says that's immoral, since she's just trying to repay her for taking him in. He says that if his boss hadn't taken him in, he would have lived to be old and dead. He thanks the girl for her kindness, and he gives half of the flower rice cake to Little Goldie. He tells her that the shop is his, and says that he deserves to be punished for stealing the recipe, since it wasn't his idea. He also thanks her for forgiving him, saying that he will never forget her kindness forever. The
